FAQQuestions I love getting asked.
-
A midwife is a medical provider who manages the clinical aspects of your birth. A doula is your emotional, physical, and informational support. I am there for you, not the clinical management of your birth. We work beautifully alongside midwives and OBs.
-
Your OB or midwife is focused on the safe delivery of your baby. A doula is focused entirely on you. Research consistently shows that continuous doula support leads to better birth outcomes, more positive experiences, and lower rates of intervention.
-
Not at all. Doula support is valuable no matter what kind of birth you are planning, medicated, unmedicated, cesarean, or somewhere in between. My role is to support your choices, not guide you toward any particular outcome.
-
Boulder County is my primary service area, but I am open to conversations about surrounding areas. Geography does not always have to be a barrier, reach out and let's talk.

No. While I am a Registered Nurse with a background in maternal newborn health and public health, all services offered through Prairie Rose Birthwork are provided solely in my capacity as a doula. My nursing background informs the depth of knowledge and care I bring, but I am not practicing as an RN in this role. If you have medical questions or concerns, please consult your healthcare provider.
